Chapter 47

With hands that were less than steady he firmed his grip on her waist. Realization blended with pleasure as he became aware of the room, the woman in his arms and their situation. On any normal day, he’d have called it a mistake and a big one, but sharing everything with her for the first time in a moment like that just couldn’t be slotted as a mistake.

Not with his feelings growing for her every day. The consequences would just have to be owned up to.

Tessa hooked her arms under his and gripped his shoulders. He was still inside her, but everything felt different. She laid her head on his shoulder and felt the last of the tremors burn through her.

With more nerves than she’d ever had around him she forced herself to face him. He brought one hand up to cup her face. His blue eyes were fierce and yet calm at the same time. “Did we just do what I think we did?” she asked quietly.

“Yup.”

“Are you sorry?” she asked, nibbling her lower lip.

“No.”

The calm conviction in his eyes eased the oily knots in her belly. She kissed him gently, reassured when his hands slid into her hair. Pulling away she smiled, “If it makes you feel any better, it’s not a bad time for me.”

“I won’t be sorry no matter what, Tessa.”

She swallowed with some difficulty. “Well then.” Gasping, she felt him harden inside of her which left her startled and aching all over again. The moved slowly now, savoring the intimacy of no shield.

Eyes held in the wake of a slow and delicious orgasm brought on only by the intimate nature of their joining. Her breath hitched on a shudder as she felt his heat and the pulse of his seed deep in her body.

His mouth caught hers and she sighed into him. Her arms curled around him and the groan they shared was soft and sweet. Reluctantly they parted and she found her clothes on the floor.

She tugged out the two condoms in her pocket. “Sad thing is I had something with me.” She said and held them out.

Jon looked down at them then back into her eyes as he shifted himself back into his pants. His smile was wry, but still open and there was no worry in his eyes. “Still not sorry.”

Awkwardly she stepped into her shorts and adjusted the rest of her clothing. What on earth did all that mean? She absently slid her hand across her stomach. She knew the chances of her making a baby were so slim it was a near impossibility, but the idea of it. The way he was so calm about it left her shaking in what would be her boots…if she’d been wearing them.

Still quiet, they picked up the room and Jon smoothed his hand over the glossy surface of the piano. The imprint of her body was pretty obvious with the almost glass-like sheen of the finish. “Wonder what the housekeeping staff will say tomorrow.”

Tessa glanced at the wide outline. “That I need to do lunges to firm up my ass?”

Jon grabbed her and cupped each cheek of her butt as he pulled her close. “Nope, I like it just fine.”

She swatted at him and nipped his chin before she wiggled free. “You are relentless.”

Jon scooped her up and hugged her to his hip like a sac. “I’m a man who likes to touch his woman.” He hitched her higher and tighter to him. “All the time. You better get used to it.”

She clutched at his arm and lifted her feet from dragging. “I can’t say I’m going to have a problem there.”

“Good.” He set her down when they got back to the elevator. “I suppose we should get some sort of sleep,” he said lacing their fingers.

“You said you had a meeting tomorrow.”

“Yeah, but I hate to leave you alone.”

She blew out raspberries. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll just wander through downtown and buy the girlie trinkets that I’m supposed to buy. Maybe even get in some last minute Christmas shopping.”

Grinning at her he hauled her into the elevator. “You’re going to spoil me. Where’s the tantrum and the pouting?”

“Darlin’ the only time you’ll see a tantrum out of me is if they fuck up one of my deliveries. Otherwise I’m an even keeled kinda gal.”

The doubt was written all over his face. Part of her wondered what the hell kind of women he hung out with or dated and the other half let him stew for a minute before she said, “Pouting is reserved for special circumstances.”

“Ahh, I do love a woman who uses her feminine wiles wisely.”

The elevator chimed and the doors slid open. “They don’t work if you use them all the time,” she said over her shoulder.

Laughing he followed her to their room. Letting them in he grabbed the door before it could slam shut. “Want a water?”

“Yes, please.” She wandered to the large window and gazed out at the lights of Nashville. He came up behind her and rested his chin on her head. “Kinda like Vegas,” she murmured gesturing to the lights and neon that still sparkled through the nightline.

His arm slipped companionably around her waist. “Yeah, this town is almost as active as Vegas. Not quite so wild,” he paused. "Well, unless Sambora is in the bar." He felt her chuckle as his thumb brushed her stomach absently. He couldn’t seem to stop touching her, even if the touch was to soothe instead of arouse.

Tessa leaned back against him, her fingers tracing over the rougher hair of his forearm. “I’m glad I came,” she said quietly.

Rubbing his chin along her silky hair he smiled, “Me too.”
